The NHS and Public Health England (PHE) are extremely well prepared for outbreaks of new infectious diseases. The NHS has put in place measures to ensure the safety of all patients and NHS staff while also ensuring services are available to the public as normal.

Call 111 now if you've been:

  • to Hubei province in China in the last 14 days or Iran, areas of northern Italy in lockdown or "special care zone" areas in South Korea since 19 February (even if you do not have symptoms) detailed maps are available on
  • to other parts of mainland China or South Korea, Thailand, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia or Macau in the last 14 days and have a cough, high temperature or shortness of breath
  •  to other parts of northern Italy (anywhere north of Pisa, Florence and Rimini), Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos or Myanmar since 19 February and have a cough, high temperature or shortness of breath
  • in close contact with someone with confirmed coronavirus

Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital. Call 111, stay indoors and avoid close contact with other people.

Dr D Prescott

MBChB, DFFP, LoC Medical Education Graduated from Liverpool University in 1991 and completed GP training on the Wirral in 1995.

She was a GP at Leasowe Primary Care Centre between 2002 and 2006 and then left to work as a singlehanded GP in a remote and rural GP practice in the Western Highlands of Scotland, with further training in providing pre-hospital emergency care. She re-joined LPCC in 2009 until leaving in 2015 to join Grove Road Surgery. Dr Prescott has worked extensively as a doctor and instructing doctor in Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare in Chester and on the Wirral since 1995. Her particular interests include Women's Health and palliative Care. She is married with two teenage sons.
