Patient Participation Group

What is a Patient Participation Group?

A Patient Participation Group (PPG) is a representative group of patients who kindly take time from their schedules to attend special surgery meetings to share feedback on services, staff experiences, and ideas on how we can improve our services. This helps us understand how patients perceive our surgery and what we can do to improve.

What does being a PPG member involve?

Being a part of our PPG can be a rewarding experience and our members are often involved in:

  • offering perspectives regarding service quality, responsiveness, and overall experience
  • providing constructive feedback, suggestions, and ideas for enhancement
  • serving as a conduit between the surgery and the surrounding community
  • providing opinions and insights to the surgery before information is shared with the broader patient population
  • gathering opinions and insights from patients
  • assisting in health promotion events
  • maintaining regular communication with the patient community
  • encouraging people to take more responsibility for their own health

How can I join the PPG?

PPGs thrive on a diverse range of input from a diverse range of people and we’re excited to see what we can accomplish with your input. If you are interested in joining our PPG, please click here to complete the registration form.

Frequently asked questions

Why are you asking people for their contact details?

The group would like to be able to contact people occasionally to ask them questions about the surgery and identify any areas for improvement.

Will the doctor see this information?

This information is purely to contact patients to ask them questions about the surgery, how well the practice are doing and ensure changes that are being made are patient focused. If the doctor is responsible for making some of the changes in the surgery they might see general feedback from patients.

Will the questions you ask be medical or personal?

There will be general questions about the practice, such as short questionnaires.

Who else will be able to access personal contact details?

Patient contact details will be kept safely and securely and will only be used for this purpose and will not be shared with anyone else.

How often will you contact me?

Not very often. Usually once every three to four months.

What if I no longer wish to be on the contact list or I leave the surgery?

You will be asked to let us know by email if you do not wish to receive further messages.
